And now because of the health reform package President Obama signed small businesses and individuals will be able to shop exchange for their health insurance needs. Although individuals and small businesses will not be able to use these exchanges until 2014.

The health insurance shop exchange will give small and medium companies, as well as, larger ones the opportunity to advertise their services and invite consumers to purchase their plans. This will create a competition amongst insurance companies which should lower premiums for individuals and small businesses alike. Because small businesses will be able to ban with others, creating a larger group, it can lower their cost considerably, to cover employees.

When an individual or small business utilizes the shop exchange it will provide information about coverage and costs for a variety of plans from different insurers. This will allow them to compare and find a suitable plan that fits their needs and purchase it. Each plan on the exchange will have four levels of cost and coverage. The four levels will enable consumers of any employment status to purchase health care coverage. This makes the state's health insurance shop exchange a versatile but informative way to handle purchasing health coverage.

Because these exchanges will have a variety of health insurance plans, they are required to provide an excellent help line for customers, potential customers, agents and insurance companies. The customer service help line is expected to be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to answer any questions and address concerns about the exchange. Just another added benefit to a one stop shopping marketplace.

The government has already given some states funding to initiate the set up for their health exchange and a few states already have a shop exchange set up. But it is not until 2014 that all states are required to have its health insurance shop exchange ready. If a state doesn't comply with this law and it isn't ready, a federally run health insurance shop exchange will be set up in that state. So all Americans and legal immigrants will have a shop exchange available to them.

There is some controversy about a Shop Exchange for health insurance. Some believe it will increase their premiums, and others just don't like the fact that the government is involved. But when you look at other shop exchanges, most find that they provide good deals and are an excellent way to comparison shop, plus they are convenient.
